Advanced Ceramics 2, 3
Open to grades 10, 11, 12
One trimester - 1 credit
Prerequisite(s): Art One, Ceramics 1 with a C+ or above
Course Description: Advanced ceramics 2, 3 is a continuation of Ceramics 1. Students in Ceramics 2 engage in sequential learning experiences that encompass art criticism, aesthetics, and production. Students expand their skills, knowledge and artistic interpretation as they create works of art in clay utilizing the processes of hand building, molds, wheel throwing, glaze techniques, and the firing processes. Additionally, students will: (1) reflect upon the outcome of these experiences, (2) explore cultural and historical connections, (3) work individually and in groups, (4) find direct correlation to other disciplines, and (5) explore career options related to ceramics.
The assignments for this class allow for individual expression and exploration using the media of clay.
