Texture is an element of art that refers to how things feel or look as though they might feel. The viewer perceives this element of art with two senses - sight and touch.

Visual Texture is the illusion a three dimensional surface. You do not actually feel it, but know about the texture by looking at it with your eyes.  Your eyes tell you what somethiing would feel like if you were to touch it.

 

Real Texture is felt.  When you actually touch something to determine its texture, you experience real texture.
