Illustration
“The point of illustrating is to tell a story, to give the reader so much more than a simple picture or a pretty face”
This assignment will involve your drawing and computer skills. You will be identifying a common daily event or an upcoming community event. Your task will be to interpret your selection by using artistic vision to create an illustration for it.
-
Creating:
-
Choose your theme.
-
Interpret – decide the environment, point of view, mood for your work.
-
Draw –With pencil or fine marker, draw your illustration so it can be scanned into the computer. Set this up on a separate layer and build onto it. Don’t be afraid to let your pencil lines become part of the art piece - this could add character to your work.
-
Scanning – at least three parts of your person must be scanned (material for the clothing, yarn for the hair, fur for a beard, etc…. Be creative) You could even paint then scan this into your composition.
-
Digital photo – one part of your art piece must be a part of a digital picture you take and you incorporate into the piece.
-
Use your imagination: The rest is up to you – your computer quality and originality is the focus for this project. Use the knowledge you have gained in Photoshop and art classes to create an outstanding piece of art.
-
Print your complete work then write an artist statement to describe how you captured your person’s personality.
